Introducing Our Teachers at Hot Yoga of Delray

Jane Schreier - Director

As a practicing yoga student of 14 years, I had a desire to create something special. This studio is the realization of that desire. I welcome you all to share it with me.

“ Yoga is my passion. I hope you enjoy every experience you have at Hot Yoga of Delray – Namaste!”

Matthew Ruggerio – Studio Manager

My journey into yoga began in 1993, when I began practicing. In spring of 2000 I became a Kripalu (500 Hr Certification) Instructor. After, I became a Bikram certified Yoga Teacher (500 Hr Certification) alongside Jimmy Barkan in Fall 2001. My other training includes Phoenix Rising Therapy (200 Hr Certification), where I had the privilege to study under Todd Norian.

“Yoga has profoundly enhanced my life, and I look forward to sharing my knowledge with all.”

Diana Place

Diana has practiced Bikram yoga here in South Florida for more than 20 years. Advanced certified under Yogi Amrit Desai; she has been teaching Amrit Yoga in the Palm Beaches at such places as the Ritz Carlton in Manalapan and the Trump Spa at Mar a Lago. In 2005 Diana traveled to India and studied directly with a Doctor of Yoga. Diana’s teaching concentrates on form and alignment, and believes the hot yoga is beneficial when practicing yoga.

Monica Chacon

Monica is a certified yoga instructor and registered with Yoga Alliance. She has been teaching for the past 5 years but her yoga journey began 9 years ago. Her motivation and enthusiasm deepened as she became more aware of the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of yoga.. She encourages her students to go deeper within and to let go of any judgments, expectations and worries that fill our mind day in and day out.

“The life transforming benefits of yoga are unlimited and as soon as you learn to tap into that universal energy that is within us all you will let go of the mundane and start to see your life flow as one unit with the universal energy that is available to us all”

Julie Lindsay

Jules Lindsay began practicing yoga in 2000 when she was finishing her BA in clinical psychology. She discovered the profound healing power of yoga as it helped her get through medical issues she was told she could not overcome. Her gratitude for yoga ultimately led her to teach and share what she had found. She strongly believes in tailoring the practice to accommodate the individual, and encourages each person to listen to the body and become their own teacher. Her yoga career began at the Yoga College of India in Boca Raton and continued on to various studios where she taught Bikram Yoga from 2002 to 2004. After recognizing the importance of variation and modification, Jules became RYT certified in 2005 through Yoga Alliance training with Jimmy Barkan in Hot Yoga. She then was trained in Hot Vinyasa levels I - III. Her teaching is inspired by Anusara, Ashtanga, Iyengar, Jivamukti, Vinyasa, Power and Restorative Yoga. Jules continues training and looks forward to getting her LMHC in order to incorporate Yoga and counseling into a naturally evolved, individualized healing approach. Jules’ strong, upbeat attitude and energy help students on all levels connect with their practice and bring the peace, clarity, and intentions achieved on their mats out into their daily lives.

“Honor your level with full acceptance, humility and gratitude, go within, and free your mind, body and spirit on your own yoga journey”.

Jacqueline

After graduating college at UF, Jacqueline began practicing Yoga in 1999 in Maui. There, she practiced several yoga styles including: Kundalini, Bikram, and Anusara. It wasn’t until she moved to San Diego that her true heart's desire for Yoga was found when she was introduced to the Vinyasa style - a very powerful practice. She fell in love with breath, sweat and how the asanas transformed her body via the movement and beat of the Vinyasa (flow). This inspired her to become certified in the style, and she began teaching it in 2008. Her experiences helped her to formulate classes which offer a fun flow - a time to dance with your breath and honor where your body is at in any given moment. Jacqueline believes everyone should follow their bliss and that yoga supports that quest. Her class is a time to be free and have fun (maybe even smile and laugh), with the only real "serious" elements being “breath” and “awareness with alignment”.

"The magic is in the movement, the beauty is in the breath and the power is in the pose"

Christine Lewis

Yoga has uniquely influenced and inspired my life over the last seven years by fostering the elevation of my own consciousness while strengthening my sense of Self and my physical body. As in life, balance in our yoga practice is much more about mental focus and awareness of the present moment than it is about physically muscling our way through the pose or the circumstance presented to us. My yoga practice is constantly evolving as I continue to explore all styles and expressions of yoga to build upon the vast foundation that Jimmy Barkan and his senior teachers have shared with me. The Vinyasa flow I share with my students uses the power of the breath to stimulate the Heart Chakra by combining the physically rigorous practice of the yoga asanas with a mental “work-in” that purifies and rejuvenates the soul.

“Be conscious of the power of your presence as we use the practice of yoga to remove the external distractions that impede our progress in fulfilling our life’s purpose”

Shari Remland

Shari started practicing yoga seven years ago, but it wasn't until she practiced in a heated room that she was hooked. Practicing yoga in the heat coupled with inspiring music was intoxicating. Shari practiced Bikram Yoga religiously for three years before deciding she wanted to become certified as a yoga instructor. She got trained in Sivananda Yoga at the Studio Yoga and Inner Peace in Lake Worth which proved to be a life changing experience that has helped to shape who she is both on the mat and in life more broadly. Shari learned about proper breathing, exercise, positive thinking, meditation and how to live a healthier life.

“I look forward to sharing my passion, positive attitude and energy with people that want to enhance their yoga practice and bring new levels of enjoyment to their lives.”

Amanda White

Amanda comes from a strong active background of outdoor sports and activities. Bored with the conventional gym workout, she tried a fast paced yoga class where she fell in love. She has been practicing yoga since 2001. She graduated from Yoga South Teacher Training RYS 200 program in 2009. She continues to challenge and strengthen her body and mind through daily asana and meditation while encouraging her students to do the same. Students can expect a strong Vinyasa flow that connects breath with movement while jamming to upbeat and energizing music. Amanda inspires her students to continue to let go of fears and doubts; to live without attachment, identity, judgment, and expectations, while creating new habits both on and off the mat.

Irina Shlain

YOGA has changed my life and I am truly blessed to be able to share this experience with others!

I believe we practice physical Asana to quiet the monkey mind, and thereby learn how to settle, go inward and discover our own personal truth.  My intention is to bring this moving meditation into class, combining movement and breath for a personal practice.

Your YOGA, your practice ~ enjoy the journey.
